THE JOURNEY

THE JOURNEY

Being a market leader in office furnishings and supplies, Winc needs to stay at the cutting-edge of the latest design trends, particularly those focusing on consolidation of space and collaboration. After an internal audit of their main workspaces, it was decided they needed to give their entire area a refresh in order to boost productivity and foster a more collaborative place to work.

As an internal arm of the Winc business with extensive experience in collaborative workspaces, Business Interiors was the natural choice to take on the challenge. A cross functional team was created consisting of Winc and Business interiors experts (nicknamed ‘The Block’) to came up with the overall fit-out concept and furniture specifications. PMG Group, an external design and construction company, was tasked to finalise the design, review concepts and provide coding approvals.

Winc wanted to do away with traditional workstations and embrace agile working through hot-desking. Fostering collaboration was at the heart of the challenge. They wanted their workspace to flow freely, allowing people from different departments to work together without the barriers of a traditional office.

THE SOLUTION

THE SOLUTION

Business Interiors knew that hot-desking would be key to the success of the project, as well as optimising floor space by creating rooms that would function as both formal meeting rooms and collaborative areas.

Rounded acoustic panels on desks were adopted for a softer appearance as well as added functionality – they created more open space, allowing for greater collaboration across workstations. A curated selection of loose furniture elevated informal meeting rooms and encouraged more ‘casual collisions’ between co-workers. Private areas included acoustic booths and slatted meeting areas with screens, while open areas were fitted out with high tables, ottomans, and a range of other furnishings to give staff a space to have conversations away from their desks.

Business Interiors took the entire task in its stride and ended up delivering a diverse, open-plan workplace where team members could interact and collaborate in a casual environment.

THE RESULT

THE RESULT

As experts in the furnishings sector, the Business Interiors team were able to leverage their knowledge of interior design, space planning and project management to deliver a highly functional new workplace. What’s more, they partnered well with PMG Group who finalised the layout and amenities, ensuring that everything met building codes.

Winc valued that Business Interiors met their strict timeframe and came in under budget, but most importantly that fit-out disruptions were kept to a minimum so staff could continue operating with little to no hindrance.

The result of all their hard work is a space-saving, adaptable and collaborative workspace that fosters strong communication between teams. Business Interiors’ first-hand knowledge of Winc’s business aspirations meant they immediately understood the direction Winc wanted to go, and now both teams can enjoy the fruits of their own labour.
